TechNexus portfolio company RadioPublic has been acquired by Acast, a major player in the audio and podcasting ecosystem. This acquisition by Acast now makes them the largest podcasting company in the US.
Former CEO, Jake Shapiro, founded RadioPublic in 2015. Originally an app to listen and stream podcasts, the company has since expanded its products and services to include a website builder for podcast creators, various marketing tools, and customizable web players. What’s most exciting for Acast to leverage through this acquisition is RadioPublic’s unique tool, Podsite, allows podcasters to set up a custom website that compliments their show. It also has features like Affinity Promotions, enabling users to interact with their most loyal fan base through text messages.
“I think it was a match made in heaven,” says Leandro Saucedo, Acast’s Chief Business and Strategy Officer. RadioPublic is perfectly positioned to expand Acast’s footprint in podcast technology. “We had a whole roadmap of things we wanted to build, but we recognized that at our scale, we could be better served by partnering up with bigger organizations,” MacDonald Chief Product Officer at RadioPublic said.
This acquisition further shows the importance of the expanding audio and podcasting ecosystem. TechNexus believes audio is already playing a big role and that it will only get bigger as traditional means of content continue to be disrupted.
To everyone involved, our team sends a big congratulations to RadioPublic and Acast! We’re excited to see how the business continues to accelerate.
